He was born June 17, 1957 in Canton, OH, a son of the late Eula Irene (Mitchell) Brookhart. For the past 19 years, Denver worked as a store associate at the Marietta Wal-Mart. During his employment, he worked in various departments at the store but was currently building bicycles and assembling furniture. He had a great relationship with his Wal-Mart co-workers and considered them his 2nd family. He also worked a short time for the Family Resources in Harrisville, WV and also a video rental store in Pennsboro, WV that he greatly loved.
He was a member of the Vienna Wesleyan Church and loved the Lord and going to church. He was a dedicated donor to the St. Jude’s Foundation and also the children’s ministry at Homeland Community Church in Parkersburg. He had a great heart for children and was touched by the needs for children. He enjoyed watching football and rooted for the Washington Redskins and WVU, watching movies, and spending time with his daughters and family. He also collected model cars, was a great handyman, and had a good sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughters, Samantha Smith of Harrisville, WV and Marissa Reyes (Mario) of New Mexico; granddaughter, Serenity Reyes of New Mexico; sisters, Carol Barton of Mineral Wells, WV; Patricia Hughes of Parkersburg, WV; Wanda Whitehair (Terry) of Parkersburg, WV; Helen Brookhart of Morgantown, WV; brothers, Thurman Smith (Diana) of Arkansas; Jim Brookhart (Jennell) of Washington; aunt, Bernice Curry of Harrisville, WV; 19 nieces & nephews, and his close friend, Judy Robinson of Pennsboro, WV.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard & Goldie Mitchell and uncles, Orville & Clarence Mitchell.
Funeral services will be 2pm, Sunday, July 16, 2017, at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro WV with Pastor Russell Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Berea, WV. Visitation will be from 4pm-8pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
