Obituary

Helen D. Payne, 83, of Greenwood, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at her residence.

Helen was born May 31, 1935, at Highland, WV. The daughter of the late Herman and Leno (Duty) Grayam. She spent her life as a loving and devoted wife. She also worked in the garment industry of Ritchie County at the former Myles Manufacturing of Pennsboro, WV and she also worked at the Doddridge County Senior Citizens. She was a graduate of Pennsboro High School and she was a Christian by faith.

Helen was very music oriented. She enjoyed singing and playing musical instruments. As a teenager she sang gospel songs on a local radio station every Sunday. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid reader and race fan.

She is survived by her brother in law, Nathan Jerry Payne (Judy) of Clinton Township, MI and sister in law, Shirley Kirk (Kenneth) of Hartford, KY, along with her many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Norbert Howard Payne in 2012 and her sister, Lue Ella Haddox.

Funeral services will be 2pm, Sunday, November 4, 2018, at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV with Pastor Mary Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Payne Family Cemetery near Greenwood, WV. Visitation will be from 4pm-8pm on Saturday, at the funeral home.
