Obituary

Kenneth S. Hardbarger, 78, of Berea, WV, departed this life on Monday, December 18, 2017, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Kenneth was born September 26, 1939 in Elizabeth, WV, a son of the late Lawrence and Martha (Valentine) Hardbarger. He was retired after 25 years of service to the Asplundh Tree Company where he worked as a foreman. Before working for Asplundh, he began his working career for Ravens Metal in Maryland. He devoted his life to his family especially his grandchildren and he had a great love of farming and coon hunting. Kenneth was a member of the Pennsboro Apostolic Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Betty L. (Simons) Hardbarger; children, Janet Dodd (John) of Pennsboro, WV; David Hardbarger (Kim) of Berea, WV; Cendy Lewis (Dan) of Sistersville, WV; Greg Simons (Cynthia) of Strasburg, OH; Tammie Bailey of Berea, WV; Mary Roberts of Berea, WV, and Randy Hardbarger (Carrissa) of Harrisville, WV; 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; brothers, Denzil Hardbarger of Elizabeth, WV; Robert Hardbarger of MacFarlan, WV; Lawrence Hardbarger of Elizabeth, WV; Roger Hardbarger of Elizabeth, WV; Terry Hardbarger of Elizabeth, WV; Joe Hardbarger of Parkersburg, WV; Bill Hardbarger of Elizabeth, WV; David Hardbarger of Elizabeth, WV, and sisters, May Clevenger of Wolf Summit, WV and Ida Gay Roberts of Elizabeth, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Kenneth Hardbarger; grandchildren, Matthew Beckett Hardbarger; great grandson, Matthew Ireland Hardbarger, and sister Florence Roberts.

Funeral services will be 2pm, Saturday, December 23, 2017, at the Pennsboro Apostolic Church with Rev. David Simons officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Berea, WV. Visitation will be from 5pm-8pm on Friday, at the McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, WV and from 1pm until time of service on Saturday at the church.
